Heat warning issued for Ottawa region

Ottawa under heat warning

Environment Canada issued a multi-day heat warning for Ottawa and Gatineau on Saturday evening.

Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 30-34°C, with humidity reaching 42°C. At night, the heat will hardly subside: temperatures will only drop to 19-23°C. The hottest day is forecast for Monday, but in some areas the heat may last until Wednesday.

Residents are advised to:

  • Drink water regularly, without waiting for thirst;
  • Close curtains and open windows if it is cooler outside;
  • Use an air conditioner, fan, or stay in cool places such as libraries, shopping malls, parks;
  • Schedule activities for the morning or evening;
  • Wear light, lightweight clothing and a hat;
  • Never leave children or animals in a car.

These conditions increase the risk of heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses.
