Ottawa under heat warning
Environment Canada issued a multi-day heat warning for Ottawa and Gatineau on Saturday evening.
Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 30-34°C, with humidity reaching 42°C. At night, the heat will hardly subside: temperatures will only drop to 19-23°C. The hottest day is forecast for Monday, but in some areas the heat may last until Wednesday.
Residents are advised to:
- Drink water regularly, without waiting for thirst;
- Close curtains and open windows if it is cooler outside;
- Use an air conditioner, fan, or stay in cool places such as libraries, shopping malls, parks;
- Schedule activities for the morning or evening;
- Wear light, lightweight clothing and a hat;
- Never leave children or animals in a car.
These conditions increase the risk of heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses.
