Man Searches for Ottawa Man Who Jumped into River to Save Woman
MRC des Collines police and the Ottawa Police Marine Unit are continuing their search for a 53-year-old man who jumped into the Ottawa River around 5:30 p.m. Sunday to rescue a woman in distress off Mohr Island.
According to police, the man jumped from a pontoon without a life jacket and disappeared underwater shortly after. Witnesses from nearby boats and firefighters immediately launched a search operation.
The Ottawa Police Marine Unit joined the operation overnight. Despite intensive efforts, the man was not located.
Police fear he may have drowned. The search will continue on Monday.
