Ottawa police arrested a 23-year-old man after he made threats against St. Mark High School.

It was learned that his threats were triggered by a social media post from one of the school’s staff members about the death of U.S. right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot last week on a Utah college campus.

On Sunday morning, parents received a letter from the school principal informing them of the threat. In the evening, another message followed: police said there was no direct danger to students or staff but that they would increase their presence near the school during the investigation.

The Ottawa Catholic School Board confirmed it is reviewing social media posts related to the incident.
