Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau dine together at a high-end Montreal restaurant
On Monday evening, popular American singer Katy Perry and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were spotted having dinner at one of the country's top restaurants, Le Violon in Montreal's Le Plateau district.
TMZ was the first to report the news, publishing photos showing Perry and Trudeau chatting animatedly at the table. Representatives of Le Violon, recently named Canada's best new restaurant, confirmed the visit. According to them, the guests were seated among other diners "without much fuss or formality" and were "warm, friendly and respectful." The artist and the prime minister even went into the kitchen to thank the staff.
The couple enjoyed the chef's signature tasting menu, which included tuna with tomatoes, beef tartare, lobster, asparagus, gnocchi and lamb.
The reason for their meeting remains unknown. Representatives for both sides did not comment on whether the meeting was private or business. It is also unclear whether Trudeau plans to attend Perry's performance in Ottawa on Tuesday as part of her Lifetimes tour. She will then perform in Montreal on Wednesday and wrap up the Canadian leg of her tour with a show in Quebec City on Friday.
The dinner with the prime minister comes just weeks after Perry officially announced her split from actor Orlando Bloom. Trudeau himself announced his divorce from his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
