Canadian Tire cuts jobs as part of corporate transformation

Canadian Tire has confirmed that it has cut some of its office staff. In a statement to CityNews, it said it was part of a larger business transformation aimed at becoming more competitive in the new retail reality.

"While these changes are not easy, they are necessary to ensure we remain a strong retailer, employer and long-term contributor to the Canadian economy," the company said.

The cuts did not affect store employees.

Canadian Tire did not specify how many people were laid off or what positions were eliminated.
